A medical supply manufacturer is focused on reducing cost through improvement in the consistency of their key processes


Approach

Senior management decided to use the Six Sigma Methodology to reduce the variation in their key process. 

This involved:
  • Identifying & training a Master Black Belt

  • Identifying OFI's with Value Stream Mapping

  • Creating benefit capture system to lock-in savings

  • Training 10% to Black Belt level

  • Training 30% to Green Belt level


Impact 

Successful awareness work with the organisation allowed all employees to embrace the new method and deliver benefit.

Successes included: 
  • 5% reduction in costs after only three months

  • 20% reduction in costs after twelve months

  • Improved consistency in the manufacture of quality goods

  • Knowledge transfer to all key managers and process owners to ensure sustainability

  • New export opportunities as a result of the improved operating environment
